Yaddo Presents: Love Is Transformation
In concert with MLK Saratoga, we are delighted to present Yaddo luminaries Arabelle Sicardi and Sam Feder in conversation as part of Dr. King Celebration Weekend. Join us for Love Is Transformation: Queer Genius in Contemporary Culture.
Arabelle Sicardi is an acclaimed writer and brand consultant who focuses on the intersection of beauty, technology, and power. They pen a beauty industry newsletter and have written for Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue, The Cut, and Vogue Business. Arabelle is the author of Queer Heroes, a children’s book on queer folks throughout history, and a forthcoming book, The House of Beauty, a nonfiction account of the beauty industry.
Sam Feder is an award-winning filmmaker and director whose latest documentary film, Disclosure, offers an unprecedented look at transgender depictions in film and television, revealing how Hollywood simultaneously reflects and manufactures our deepest anxieties about gender. Cited by Indiewire as one of the “exciting trans filmmakers shaking up Hollywood,” Sam models practices of inclusion and equity in the industry. Sam’s films have been programmed by Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, MOMA PS-1, The British Film Institute and The Hammer Museum, among others, and have appeared in hundreds of film festivals around the world.
